Who should take this qualification?

Anyone working in a job role that requires them to authorise retail sales of alcohol in both on-sales and off-sales premises: managers, assistant managers and supervisors, or staff seeking promotion to one of these positions.

Course Objectives:

There are two mandatory units to the APLH: Licensing Law and Other Legal and Social Responsibilities. The training course will provide each learner with a clear understanding of the framework of law and regulation that underpins the responsibilities of the personal licence holder.

Personal licences
Premises licences
Operating schedules
Permitted temporary activities
Unauthorised licensable activities
Police powers
Legal and social responsibilities of the personal licence holder
Duties of the personal licence holder

Formerly known as the National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH) this course is now called the Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH). The Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH) is designed for those authorising the sale (in licensed premises) of alcohol including, but not limited to bars, pubs, restaurants and hotels.

The National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH) now called the Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH) covers all the modules you’ll need to know and understand to pass the examination and gain the qualification you need to apply for your Personal Licence.

What is e-learning?
E-learning stands for electronic learning; it refers to the use of a computer to deliver aspects of a course or a course in its entirety.

What are the benefits?
There are numerous benefits to e-learning; you can choose to compliment or to enhance your current in-house training or use it by itself and replace your current solution. Benefits include, but are not limited to:

Cost effective:
By decreasing the time taken away from work, eradicating travel costs and removing the
dependency on paper resources, online learning makes training more cost effective and has
been proven to increase workplace productivity.

Ability to track progress:
Many feel that the ability to track the progress of the learner is an important part of the training process. We have built a management structure into the service and, at no extra cost, you can monitor all members of staff that report either directly or indirectly to you; It works similar to a family tree and you can see everything that goes on below you in the hierarchy but nothing above. You can also use this information to prove development of your staff. This becomes particularly useful when looking at some of our courses where there is a proof of mandatory

requirement involved. As we move forwards into a digital age, we are able to store all training records for your staff on the system so that at the click of a button from anywhere in the world, you can access a complete training record for your staff, rather than having masses of paperwork to achieve the same outcome.

Discretion:
Some learners feel less comfortable learning in groups. This can be heightened if they find it difficult to understand a concept that those around them comprehend already. E-learning gives the ability for each individual to go at their own pace and highly interactive tasks are in place to ensure that they understand before they move on.

Time efficient:
Most face-to-face courses only operate as part of a scheduled course, what if you can’t make that date/time? E-learning can help you overcome this issue by making sure disruptions to your demanding operational schedule are curtailed. It also means there is no need to spend valuable time and money travelling to training centres around the country and key work can be caught up on as training can be done outside of operating hours.

Certificates are sent to you once a course has been completed and all of the courses have been drawn against QCF qualifications.
